“Somaio” Bianco IGT 2014

Harvest 2014 I.G.T. Bianco di Toscana

Production area: Commun of Montepulciano in sub area Argiano and S. Savino.

Grapes: Malvasia, Trebbiano and San Colombano

Soil: clayey, sandy, with shallow substrate of tuff stones and fossil.

Growing system: organic farming without the use of fertilizers, with alternating row (one with grass and one extirpated).

Training system: Guyot with about 3300 vines/ha with 9112 buds per vine.

Exposition: South-East. Average yield per h: 30 hl. Altitude: 320 mt on the sea level. Age of the vines. 35 years.

Microclimate: temperate, with winter cold tend, enough wet spring and hot and dry summer, rain especially after the harvest.

Harvest: by hand, in the second week of September 2014, in boxes of 15 kg.

Vinification: The grapes were selected on a double sorting table before and after the rasping, following a soft pressing flowed by gravity into stainless steel vats, after a pre-fermentative cold maceration of the grapes are past 24 hours in press; debourbage after a cold begins the fermentation, partly in barriques and partly in stainless steel vats. After the malolactic fermentation the wine remained sur lies in stainless steel tanks and oak barrels for about 6 months.

Bottling: without filtration and placed on the market after aging in bottle for at least 12 months.

Alcohol: 13,5% Vol

Service Temperature: 12-14° C

Sensory analysis:

View: Straw yellow with golden highlights.

Smell: the aromas of white flowers, pear and pineapple.

Taste: smooth and full taste with good acidity.
